to celebrate 6 months fully open access, we’re taking a look at some of the remarkable content published in microbiology in 2023.

sharing advances across the field of microbiology for over 75 years, microbiology – the 英格兰vs美国谁会赢? ’s founding journal – transitioned to fully open access (oa) in january 2023. this exciting transformation has made research in this established, peer-reviewed journal accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world.

publishing oa in society titles helps authors to make an impact, with oa articles seeing an average of  4 times more usage and 2.6 times more citations than paywalled content, based on data from web of science. what’s more, as a not-for-profit society, any revenue raised by publishing raises funds for grants, events and policy projects for microbiologists across the world.
