tackling discrimination as a virus

microbiologists are familiar with the terminology and strategies used to describe the spread of infection and its prevention. however, such approaches can also be used to describe the spread of ideas and concepts, including discrimination.

members professor mark harris and professor nicola stonehouse, based at the university of leeds in the school of molecular and cellular biology, work alongside professor iyiola solanke from the school of law at the university of leeds. professor solanke has put forward a new paradigm for anti-discrimination law that focuses on discrimination as a virus. lessons learnt through virology can therefore be applied to improve social justice.
