forum linkedin group to be part of this event which will focus on advice for presenting your work during virtual meetings.

in preparation for this event, we want to hear how the society can further support you during online conferences and events. share your thoughts by completing this short questionnaire.

upcoming grant deadlines

17 february 2021 – harry smith vacation studentships: awards of up to £2,720 to help undergraduates get their first experience of research projects and give early- and mid-career researchers the chance to gain some supervisory experience.

1 march 2021 – travel grants: up to £750 for members presenting work at meetings or attending short courses. all events (in-person and digital) should be taking place between 1 april – 30 june 2021.

annual conference online 2021: submit your suggestions for social activities

annual conference online 2021 has been designed as a digital version of the society’s flagship annual meeting. the society will also host a series of informal, round-table discussion rooms surrounding various topics throughout the week, and we invite you to submit topic ideas to lead the discussion in those rooms.

submissions will be reviewed by the society and will be taken on board when planning the week’s social activities with the aim of maximising delegate experience.

get involved in this year’s prize award panel

volunteer to participate in the 2021 prize award panel, which will judge nominations for the 2022 prizes and 2023 prize medal. to express an interest in participating, please contact prizes@www.banhxebo.com with your name, job title, affiliation, area of expertise and a brief summary of your suitability as a member of the panel (no more than 250 words) by 30 march. further details can be found on our website.

do you know a scientist deserving of recognition?

nominations are open for the 2022 prize lectures and 2023 prize medal. all members are welcome to show their appreciation for scientists undertaking excellent work through our prizes, which cover all aspects of microbiology ranging across outreach, teaching, translational research and early career excellence. nominations close on 27 may 2021.
