thank you for registering to attend the microbiology
society’s annual conference online 2021, taking place from 26–30 april. we hope you are looking forward
to this virtual event, which is taking place in one week's time. to
ensure that your online attendance at conference goes as smoothly as possible,
we’d be very grateful if you could please read the below information carefully.

online event platformannual conference online 2021 will be hosted on a virtual event platform
called ‘conference compass’. this can be accessed through your web
browser. watch our short video which explains how to navigate around the platform.

for the most stable and consistent experience, it is highly recommended that you use google chrome. microsoft edge is also compatible – depending on your browser’s security settings. please note, the platform is not compatible with internet explorer or safari. |
creating an accountwhen prompted to do so by the platform, please enter your
email address and set up a password. the email address you use must be the same
one you originally used to book your place at the meeting.
once you have signed in, you will be asked to set up a profile, which will allow other attendees to see some basic details about you. further details can be found on our website. |

accessing presentationsyou must be signed in to access the platform and
view the event presentations. the platform is now available to access, so
please take time to familiarise yourself with the system and to view the
programme and posters. you can also save sessions that are of particular
interest to you directly into your own personal programme. if you experience
issues with your connection, try switching to google chrome (if you are using
another web browser). alternatively, close any other open applications that you
are not using and refresh the page. |

sessionsannual conference online 2021 takes place over five days and
consists of symposia, workshops, forums, offered oral presentations and prize
lectures from eminent microbiologists. presentations will be available on the platform to view
on-demand for one month after conference. access the full programme on our website or via the event platform. |

|
postersposters are now available to view on the event platform. live poster sessions will be taking place monday to thursday from 18:30–19:30 bst. please note, amr posters will be split over two slots, the
second of which will take place on monday between 19:30 and 20:30 bst. please visit our website for further information. a directory of e-posters will be included on the main event platform. all posters will remain viewable throughout the event and for one month after conference ends. |

all sessions will be run via zoom. please ensure you have updated to the latest version of zoom desktop or mobile application. please note, version 5.3 or higher is required in order to access the poster presentation sessions. |
networkingif you’re interested in contacting an attendee or speaker, their
profile is only a click away. you can reach out to them directly to chat or to organise private
one-to-one meetings (please note, you must make your profile visible to enable
this). |

socialsas ever, annual conference has its own social programme with dedicated networking and wellbeing slots
throughout the week, as well as the ever-popular annual conference quiz night, which is taking place on wednesday at 20:30 bst. this year’s event will be hosted by quizquizquiz, question editors for bbc2's only connect. |

|
if you’ve registered for any day of annual conference online 2021, you’re welcome to join us for this quiz. there’s no need to register for it, or to get yourself into teams…simply log in to the platform up to 15 minutes
in advance for a link to this social activity. participants will then be automatically organised into teams at the start of the event. |
