some of our current initiatives include:

  our council and committees shadowing scheme gives members an exclusive opportunity to gain insight into the inner working of the society.

  ec forum co-chairing scheme

  the early career forum co-chairing scheme provides ec forum members with the opportunity to be involved in the chairing of scientific sessions at the society’s annual conference and focused meetings.

  annual conference

  annual conference is the society’s flagship event. the conference brings together scientists who work in microbiology and provides a comprehensive overview of current microbiological research and discoveries. the event takes place over the course of a week each april at one of the uk or ireland’s major convention centres and is designed to maximise opportunities for networking and the formation of new collaborations.

  awareness days

  we mark a number of awareness days, weeks and months throughout the year to highlight the achievements and challenges faced by our members from historically marginalised communities.

  we support members from historically marginalised groups to organise events for their communities.
