the 9th international symposium on testate amoebae focused meeting took place at riddel hall, belfast, uk, between 10–14 september. we’ve turned to twitter to look at some of the highlights of the meeting.

the second day included an outreach event at the ulster museum.

the third day included sessions on ecology and bioindication, diversity and functioning of testate amoebae and allied microbial groups, and phylogeny and biogeography.
excited to be talking at #ista9 and to learn about interesting topics in ecology and bioindication starting with tim patterson explaining the future of arcellinida in applied paleolimnology @protistologyuk @microbiosoc

the end of the scientific sessions was marked by an evening of traditional irish music and dancing with the alastair scott ceilidh band.

an optional field trip took place on the friday, where delegates visited bog sites in the bann valley, the giant’s causeway and bushmills distillery.
