the protein secretion at the host-pathogen interface focused meeting, which took place on 3–4 november 2022 in belfast, uk, brought together world-leading experts on the structure and function of secretion systems. in this blog, we look at the success of #hostpathsecretion22 with a view from twitter.

with new discoveries constantly pushing our understanding of the molecular basis of host-pathogen interactions to new levels, we had an exciting programme prepared to share with our delegates.

we were pleased to see our delegates were just as excited to attend and belfast welcomed us all with clear blue skies.

scientific sessions

the scientific sessions at #hostpathsecretion22 focused on the structure and function of type ii, iii, iv, vi and vii secretion systems. designed to allow delegates to engage with each other’s research, the sessions provided the audience with an overview of the latest developments in the field.

celebrating 50 years of the irish division

the evening of the first day of #hostpathsecretion22 was dedicated to celebrating 50 years of the society’s irish division, which has been consistently dedicated to promoting all aspects of microbiology in northern ireland and the republic of ireland.

delegates headed over to the great hall of the beautiful lanyon building for the special celebratory dinner…

… and for the opportunity to put their best foot forward and get involved in some traditional irish dancing with the mcstocker ceilidh band!
