by submitting an abstract to this conference, you are indicating to the session organisers your commitment to attend the event. members and non-members alike are welcome to submit an abstract. 

abstract guidance

abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words. the society has produced a guide to give delegates some tips from the session organisers on how to write a great abstract, which can be downloaded below:

please note that the abstract is the only information session organisers use when deciding whether to accept your work for presentation as an offered oral or poster. if accepted, it will also be published in the abstract book for the conference – so think carefully about what needs to be included. abstracts accepted as posters will be published in the online abstract book, and abstracts accepted as talks will be published in the printed conference guide.

oral presentations

in order to ensure your presentation runs smoothly, you are asked to comply with the following:

  • powerpoint presentations - pc version – are brought to the conference on a usb memory stick.
  • powerpoint presentations - mac version – can only be accepted if you bring your own laptop and connecting cables.
  • please allow for q&a following your talk in your allocated times.
  • offered orals are 15 minutes long.

posters

those who are presenting a poster must ensure the work is presented as below. we cannot accommodate incorrectly formatted posters during the conference.

  • poster size: a0 size 841mm(w) x 1189mm(h) – your poster must not exceed these measurements.
  • poster layout must be portrait orientation.
  • posters will be displayed on poster boards measuring 1m(w) x 2m(h), one to a side.
  • posters can only be fixed by velcro (provided at conference).
  • your poster number will be sent one month prior to the conference.
journal of medical microbiology poster prize

journal of medical microbiology poster prize will be awarded at the meeting. the prize will be awarded to a poster that presents particularly compelling or novel research in the journal's subject field, and will be presented by journal of medical microbiology section editor roberto la ragione. the winner will receive a cash prize, certificate and a year's 2022世界杯对阵分析 to the 英格兰vs美国谁会赢? .

the closest station to the venue is guildford station. the railway service is south western railway. there are frequent trains from london waterloo. 

you can plan your journey via national rail's website.

from guildford station to the university of surrey, it is a 35-minute walk or a 10-minute cab ride. cabs are available at the station and a one-way trip costs approximately £10.

by air

the nearest airport is london heathrow. public transport to the venue will take approximately 1½ hours. alternatively, a cab is about a 30-minute drive.

society conference grants will be available to support eligible members wishing to present at this focused meeting. support is also available for members requiring support for caring costs associated with conference attendance. the closing date for applications is to be confirmed. you can apply for a grant before receiving notification about the outcome of your abstract submission. a conditional grant offer can be made without evidence of abstract acceptance if unavailable at the time of application, however evidence must be provided to claim any grant offered.
