to celebrate 50 years of promoting microbiology in schools and colleges, the microbiology in schools advisory committee (misac) invited leading scientists including past and present 英格兰vs美国谁会赢? presidents and members to contribute articles on a wide range of micro-organisms and their activities.
this unique and informative collection highlights some important questions addressed by current and cutting-edge research such as what makes pandemic flu so dangerous, how bacteria evade the immune system, to the search for new antibiotics. the articles have been written for secondary school teachers and students to give them an insight to the important roles of microbes in everyday life.
member rachel exley is the 英格兰vs美国谁会赢? representative member of misac and co-editor of the misacmatters anniversary articles collection with margaret whalley. she currently works at the sir william dunn school of pathology and is a lecturer in medicine at somerville college oxford. rachel obtained her phd in microbiology and genetics at the université paris xi, france. she has since worked at imperial college london and the university of oxford, studying how bacterial pathogens interact with the human host. in addition to research, rachel teaches microbiology to undergraduate medical students and has designed and delivered microbiology‐related activities for primary school children.
